Elross Caravans is one of Western Australia's most genuinely battle-tested off-road manufacturers. Family-run and based in Beckenham, Perth, Elross has spent the past four decades building caravans for use in some of the harshest conditions in Australia — mine sites. Proudly designed, manufactured and owned in Western Australia since 1984, Elross has translated that mining-grade engineering into a purpose-built recreational range. The ECX Off-Road is the purpose-crafted flagship, built to withstand some of Australia's toughest terrain, with the ECX Octane offering full off-road performance plus toy-hauler storage for ATVs, bikes and recreational gear. The ECX Hybrid packages all the favourite caravan characteristics into a leaner, narrower platform, while the ECXF family range delivers rugged off-road family living in a lightweight, compact design — and the ECXR sits at the top as the ultimate off-grid expedition van.
The engineering details show where the experience lives. Every chassis is fabricated in-house using Ausmills Duragal steels, with full box-tube support rails intersecting X-axis main bearers that run the entire length of the van — paired with Cruisemaster XTF airbag suspension. The body construction has now moved to a fully composite build with a one-piece floor and 28mm PIR core. The flagship ECXR ships with a genuinely serious off-grid package: 1.15kW solar array, Redarc RS3 3000W auto-changeover inverter, Redarc Red Vision distribution and Alpha Manager 100A charging, and a 630A/h Australian-made lithium battery bank — enough to run AC, induction cooktops, and full appliances without needing a generator.
