Spinifex Caravans was founded in 2007 by Steve Thompson with a deliberately uncompromising goal: to create true custom off-road caravans from the ground up, in a market where most manufacturers offered little beyond finish and colour options. Nearly two decades on, the Queensland-based brand has grown into one of the most respected custom builders in the country — built on the same philosophy it started with.

What sets Spinifex apart is the depth of in-house manufacturing. The company operates from two facilities in Queensland, an advanced fabrication shop in Caboolture, where the team builds its own Australian steel chassis and undertakes aluminium frame fabrication, and a headquarters in Deception Bay where upholstery, cabinetry, electrical, plumbing, and final construction come together. Every chassis is sent for hot-dip galvanising for lifelong rust protection before final assembly — engineering choices that show up in the long-term ownership experience.

The range moves from the lightweight Xscape — a full-size country-road caravan available in three sizes and five layout options, through to the NomadiX full custom off-road experience with ample off-grid capabilities, and the ElectreX Premier — a fully electric van with no gas equipment, diesel hot water and air heating, induction cooking, and 14.3kW of battery power. Every standard build comes with lithium batteries, air conditioning, washing machine, and the full luxury fit-out — there are no half measures in the Spinifex catalogue.

The interiors are where the craftsmanship lands.
